What a sweetheart! Atticus is a young (one year old) Xolo, weighing in at about 17 pounds of solid muscle. He is a loving, submissive dog, who wants nothing more than to be loved by a caring family. He is snuggly, affectionate, and active. Although he loves to run around the yard and explore, he always comes when called!

Atticus was a little shy at first, but bonded to his foster mom very quickly. His first walk was a bit of a mess, but within two days, he happy to walk on-leash around the neighborhood. We have noticed he is leash-reactive to other dogs and people when we're walking, and so we are working on that in training with a "gentle leader" harness. It's going well.

He loves being snuggled with you on the couch, in bed, just anywhere he can be touching you. He is very food motivated, and learned the routine quickly. He learned SIT like a champ, too! He's being fostered with cats and is a perfect gentleman with them.

We'd like to give Atticus the best possible chance of success, and so we'll be looking for a home that:
* has a fenced in yard, for his safety, and to support his exercise needs and successful potty training;
* has at least one other balanced, confident, friendly dog. It's fine if it's an "alpha" dog as long as it's not a bully. Atticus would LOVE a playmate!
* older children, about 12 and up, would be okay;
* within driving distance of Greenville, SC, as he is not a candidate for air travel;
* preference will be given to adopters willing to continue working on basic obedience training, to help him with confidence and socialization.

Atticus truly is a dog just bursting with potential. He's just looking for his fresh start with a positive, encouraging, loving family. He's being fostered in Greenville, SC, and he's neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all his shots. Applications are welcome!
