So far, this is one of the most confident and friendly guys in the group. We expect great things from this little man... but for now we're going to keep working with him to make sure he's really ready to go to his forever home.

7/15/2011 - Lakota is a sweetie and has made great progress since coming to his foster home 2.5 weeks ago. He gets along well with the other dogs and while he is very attached to Spanky, he has started playing a little with one of our other younger dogs. He will need to have another dog to be with as a companion. We started leash training this week and he is progressing well. He does well with pottying, picked up on the doggie door very quickly and also uses puppy pads. He loves a belly or back rub and while he sleeps in his crate at night, we let them have some cuddle time in bed with myself and the other dogs and he cuddles right up in a little circle and goes to sleep. In the morning he heads right outside to potty. He does need a fenced in yard as he is an active little boy and a jumper. Both he and Spanky are a little more scared of men, which is no unusual for a mill dog.

An adopter should be an experienced dog person as these dogs have been through a lot and it will take time and effort to get them to totally trust. We are very impressed with the progress Lakota has made in a very short time and we only see good things in his future.
