Special Needs: Papa is blind

Description:
Papa is a handsome senior chinese crested Powder Puff and by the appearance and texture of his coat, appears to be part Yorkshire Terrier.  He is 9 years old and weighs 11 pounds.  Due to advanced cataracts, Papa is blind. He likely has been without vision for some time as once he has mapped his area and is familiar with his territory, he does amazingly well getting around. Papa coexists nicely with the other dogs in his foster home. He hasn't interacted with them much yet, but enjoys laying with them and does interact by smelling and following them a bit. His interest in them increases every day. He's not a high energy guy, but enjoys roaming about, sniffing and cautiously exploring his environment.  He is on a glucosamine supplement for luxated patellas, but is otherwise in good health. He has just a couple teeth left, but that does not prevent him from enjoying a semi soft diet.

His potty habits are pretty good as long as he is kept on a schedule. He loves his crate and any soft place he can find to land.

It takes awhile for him to relax around new people, which makes perfect sense given he has to rely on his other senses to get to know new things. He has really started to show more interest and trust in his foster mom and dad as he becomes familiar with his foster home. He will thrive in a patient and understanding home with someone who enjoys the challenge and rich reward of caring for a sweet, gentle fellow with a few challenges. Living with Papa will give you a fresh outlook on life, as he will show you that despite the challenges life sends our way, there is still so much to enjoy!
