PERSONALITY, PLUS!! Gustavo is a Xolo mix, estimated at five years old and about 17 pounds. He is a stocky low-rider, with very short legs, and hairless. He has a loving, sweet temperament and enjoys nothing more than lap cuddles and quiet time. In a social environment, he becomes the social butterfly, introducing himself to each and every person and bouncing from lap to lap. Gus is the epitome of a dog that "never met a stranger." He has also recently discovered the joy of toys and loves to shove his whole head into the toy bag to find something fun to play with. It's hysterical. He is nothing if not enthusiastic!!

He is well mannered walking on a leash, and will do his business in the yard as well as on a walk. He does seem to prefer to poop off leash in the yard, and we think a fenced-in yard will be necessary for his safety. He does not have any destructive behaviors like chewing and is very well mannered in the house. He sleeps quietly in the gated laundry room at night and loves to fall asleep next to you on the couch.

Gustavo is being fostered with cats and is fine with them... calm and does not chase. The cats are enjoying having him here! He has met children while out on walks and is very sweet and friendly with them. He has a lot of strength in his little stocky package, and so would probably be best with kids that are over 6 or 7 yrs. old.

Gustavo would be fine as an only dog, as he's most interested in people, or with a submissive dog (male or female) as a buddy. He has a strong personality, but got along really well with two submissive foster siblings. Stronger, alpha dogs... lnot so much.

He is eager to please and very trainable, although he has to be reminded to share at times. We are currently working on him not jumping up on a person. His high jumping style is somewhat amusing, as it's more like a chest bump, but because he has very mild luxating patellas, it's best to discourage that behavior.

And yes, his tongue always sticks out like that. Gus is definitely not a dog that should stay at home all the time. He loves adventure! He's a hoot and would love a life where his family grabs the leash and takes him out into the world to make new friends, and show the world that hairless dogs are AWESOME!!
