Foster update: Pearl and Landry are being fostered in Georgia. Landry (now Lana) has been adopted by her foster mom, who just knew she would want Lana to stay forever. The two girls are slowly making progress, which you can follow on their mom's blog.
Carly has also been placed into her forever home. Watch her video here and, to see the many changes she made with us.
Lakota and Spanky have traveled to New York State and are making great progress in their new foster home. Lakota has been adopted and is doing fantastic. Spanky is still available for a very lucky family to adopt!
Henry has been adopted by a big family of people and dogs in Tennessee. No surprise, since he's this much fun. His new family is already in love, and he's getting along smashingly with their Yorkie and three Great Danes.
Dallas is making great progress, enjoys playing with toys, being petted, lap snuggles and (most especially) going on walks in the neighborhood. When he sees that leash, he gets pretty darn excited!
Cosmo and Gino have started their heart worm treatment. Cosmo is now being cared for in New Jersey by a wonderful foster mom who has decided he will stay with her permanently to focus on his total rehabilitation. Ranger and Gino are still being fostered at the same home where the group was originally taken in. They are both doing well.
NAME THAT DOG CONTEST- THE TEXAS 10
On Wednesday, June 1, ten Chinese Crested were driven in from the Houston Humane Society by volunteers from K9Airlift.org. These dogs waited for months in the pound, where they had been taken after their previous existence living with a breeder/hoarder. She left all of them, more than 150, outside open to blistering Texas sun, without any protection. They were subjected to horrible parasites, lack of socialization, and most importantly, lack of love.
At the Bald is Beautiful Rescue intake home, these dogs will get much needed food, a cool place to stay, a bath and, of course, plenty of hugs! Two of the dogs w
e've taken in are heart worm positive, and will require lengthy, costly treatments before they can go to their forever homes. With ten new dogs coming in at once, there is one thing they are all missing... that is a name!
Thank you to everyone who donated!
Read below to see all the new names for these amazing dogs.
A drawing was held on Sunday June 5th, to select the ten names. And without further ado, here are the Texas 10!
#1 10 year old Hairless boy> Gino. We are sad to report that Gino has tested heart worm positive. But we will provide him whatever care he requires. This guy is the most social, friendly and balanced guy in the pack.
#2. puff puppy, Happy to report, she is NOT heartworm positive. She does, however, have a serious addiction for belly rubs. Carly is now being fostered in Virginia, where she is making great progress.
> Carly
#3 Hairless boy>Spanky is developing into quite a character. Although he was pretty shy at first, he's really coming out of his shell. We are excited to help him discover his "true dog self."
#4 Hairless boy>Henry is a happy, playful, super-smart guy.
He's so very very cute and we expect great things
from this floppy-eared guy.
#5 Hairless boy>Dallas has really grown by leaps and bounds. At first, he was a frightened barker. He is now much more comfortable around people, and loves playing with the other dogs.
#6 Hairless boy >Lakota was the first guy to come over and take a treat. He is so darn cute, those fluffy ears and that nose! Swoon!
#7. 3 year old Hairless girl> Pearl has moved to foster care in Georgia and is doing very well. She plays with Landry in the yard and is learning to trust her people.
#8. Dark grey Puff girl>Landry was the victim of mistaken gender identify when we thought she was a he. (Sorry about that, Landry... it was a paperwork glitch, we swear...) She's being fostered along with Pearl in Georgia and although very very shy, she's making progress. too.
#9. Shy Hairless Boy,
has also tested heart worm positive
> Cosmo is also a very shy boy. We're going to continue working with him so he'll learn to trust people. And, of course, we'll treat his heart worm with vet's recommendations.
#10. Grey and White Puff boy>Ranger is a healthy boy, about 6 years old. He's still so shy and wary of people. But he does get along great with other dogs and follows his foster mom's movements. He's very curious and brimming with potential.
