Camino is an absolutely gorgeous standard hairless xolo, currently being fostered in Philadelphia. He’s a young male, about 15 months old, 45 lbs and 20” tall. He was pulled from a shelter and placed into foster care, where he’s received lots of love and attention, along with thorough behavioral assessment to help him find a perfect match.
Camino is very smart and motivated by food and praise. He knows many basic commands, including sit, down, look, here and paw. He is sweet and loves to cuddle, and is friendly when meeting new people. He is high energy and loves to play, especially with his toys. He is a master “de-stuffer” of squeaky toys. He is very athletic and would make a great running or hiking partner. He’s house trained and crate trained, and has been making good progress on leash work.
Anyone interested in adopting Camino should be experienced with the xolo breed, or be sure to do your research. This smart, high-energy dogs needs rules, boundaries, training and structure to be successful, and Camino is no different. His owner must be willing to create a strong bond through consistent training, so that Camino can reach his full potential. In foster care, we’ve learned that Camino cannot live with cats, due to his natural prey drive. He is also challenged when learning how to interact with other dogs and we feel he’d be most successful in a home where he is the only pet. He can get excited and jump. This will improve with training but for now, he’d be best in a home with older children. Camino is just bursting with potential and deserves to find his forever home, where he can reach it!
