Description:
Spanky is one of the Texas 10, most likely Chinese Crested - Chihuahua mix. He's a very handsome boy with a stocky build and a little chi-attitude to back it all up. Spanky is spunky for sure, and we can't wait to get to know him better while he goes through his rehabilitation.
Stay tuned!
7/15/2011 - Spanky has been with us for 2.5 weeks and he has made tremendous progress! He has gone from cowering in his crate with Lakota to a playful, curious and mischevous little guy!
He is a climber so I am no longer surprised to see him on the chaise lounge, the end table or the chairs on the deck. He and Lakota love to run, has discovered toys and loves a back or belly rub. He will require a fenced in yard as he is such a clilmber. We started walking on leash out of the yard this week and he is doing good. We have tried to start basic training, but sit is not in his vocabulary at this point, as a treat brings on the happy two legged dance instead of sitting.
Also doing very well on pottying. He either heads right out the doggie door or goes over to one of the puppy pads we use and does his business.

Spanky is a real characte!! Seems he is making up for his time in a mill by doing everything he can as fast as he can! He has really overcome his trust issues once he gets to know you. He is my shadow and always by my side. He loves a good rub down and cuddling up under the covers is one of his favorite things to do when he is not otherwise occupied. His favorite outdoor activity is running free through the yard, fetching toys constantly. He is a climber, so we never know where we are going to find him. When he is not getting his exercise during the day, he is cuddled up in the wicker chair on the deck, basking in the sun. He will come up to me as if to say, OK, I'm here, lets play!
He waits patiently for his turn at treats and has acclimated quite smoothly in our pack. He is not an alpha dog and is quite content being part of a pack. He is getting used to walking on a leash and he is a quick learner. He figured out the doggy dog within one day. His pottying is very good and he goes right to the pee pads we have in the house. He responds well to his name and is a little lover! He will need another active dog to play with and would do well in an active household where he would get stimulation and challenges.
He is waiting for his forever home and he will bond with his new family quite easily.
