Today, BisB says goodbye to our very special sanctuary dog, Mac. This tiny senior Chihuahua was with our rescue for several years, joining us on road trips, lounging in the sunshine, and welcoming new dogs to our intake facility.

Mac came to us, along with his girl Grilled Cheez, after many years of neglect at the hands of a backyard breeder. With us, he found his place as the cranky old drill sergeant who mostly came and went as he pleased. In his last year or so, he finally began to seek out the company and comfort of human touch. So many of our members knew and loved this special boy, but none more than his foster mom, who will forever hold Macaroon close to her heart.

Marvey, my sweet soulful gentle boy, passed away yesterday. I absolutely adored him. I am heartbroken and will miss him terribly. He was so bonded to me ... his little hip was always touching me every time I sat down. He kept track of me. He went from a terrified 2 yr old dog to a sweet gentle boy that had a goofy side (using the sofa as a jungle gym, racing in the house for treats, fish flopping in the dog beds, play time before bed, etc). He was so good to any new foster dog coming in. I was SO lucky to have him in my life. I will love him forever.

We're sad to share that Maude Jane, a senior Yorkie adopted in 2013, passed away this morning. Her mom shared this loving update.

"It's with a broken heart that I must tell everyone that my baby girl Maude Jane passed away this morning after having a grand mal seizure. Run free Maude Jane. I love you and miss you already."

Maxine
(June, 2017)

Maxine was one of the very first dogs adopted from BisB way back at the beginning. We send love to her family, who had to say goodbye to her.

Mom shared, "I adopted Maxine in November 2010. I just wanted to let you know she passed away on June 21. She was her feisty self up until her last moments. We miss her terribly. Thank you for rescuing her so we could have the pleasure of being owned by her for these nearly 7 years.

February 16, 2020 It is with a broken heart that Meli's (f. Sadie) mom reports that Meli has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She was 13 years old and her heart failed her. Hugs and prayers to her mom and family.
